Exploration

When thinking groundwater exploration, nothing better describes this term than geophysics. Each specific rock type is associated with it’s own resistive, magnetic, electromagnetic and gravitational properties.

Various geophysical techniques are available to identify these varying geological properties to a point where subsurface geological structures may be mapped. These mapped structures in turn aid in determining groundwater movement characteristics.

After site specific data collection, combined with background analysis, recommendations for long term sustainable exploration and development may be calculated.

SGHS is a Geohydrological and Environmental assessment

Development & Management

As part of groundwater development, SGHS takes pride in providing borehole siting, drilling, chemical and video profiling as well as offering hydraulic testing.

It is of critical importance to ensure that any targeted aquifer system, when penetrated by drilling, be structured correctly to restrict surface to groundwater or shallow to deep aquifer pollution.

In order to ensure that developed boreholes are used in a sustainable manner it is recomended that hydraulic aquifer testing be done. This will provide the borehole owner with long term sustainable abstraction rate values. Due to ever changing rainfall and climate conditions, these values are especially valuable.

Groundwater development and management is applicable to mining, municipal and private sectors.

Environmental, Monitor, Management & Protection

Within a resource dependent world, water is considered as our most precious renewable resource. However, if not monitored and managed correctly, this valuable resource finds itself unprotected and systematically evolves into a nonrenewable resource.

Here at SGHS we aim to deliver our services to maintain the natural quality of our aquifers and surrounding environment through services that are sufficient and a product that is accurate.
