Consulting Team
Managing Director & Senior Geohydrologist
Kobus Haumann is a qualified Geohydrologist Specialist. He has compiled a wide experience base in environmental and geohydrological consultation. As founder and managing director of SGHS, his responsibilities lay in overseeing all aspects of Geohydrology, Environmental Assessment and Project Management within SGHS.
Kobus has a B.Sc degree in Environmental Geography and a B.Sc Masters degree in Geohydrology. He holds affiliations with SACNASP as a Professional Sci.Nat (Reg. No. 117277). He is also a registered member of the Groundwater Division of GSSA (Reg. No. 002082) and the South African Geophysical Association (SAGA) (Reg. No. HAU007).
Senior Geohydrologist
Christiaan Vermaak is qualified in Geohydrology and Physics, with completed Master Degrees in both fields. He holds substantial experience regarding aquifer pump test analysis, borehole profiling, geophysical interpolations and solar energy supply.
He specializes in aspects of Rural Water Supply as well as Scientific and Sustainable borehole Yield Testing. His other responsibilities include energy analysis, photo voltaic solar system design and general management of office projects.
Christiaan has an enriched background regarding all relevant aspects of Geohydrology. With a hard working ethic and positive attitude, Christiaan is a valued team consultant.
Professional Engineering Technologist (Civil & Structural)
Riaan Odendaal is a professional engineering technologist. He has a wide range of experience within structural, civil, and urban fields in both the private- and public sector in South Africa. He is very conversant in the fields of infrastructure development.
His experience in design and project management comprises of roads and stormwater, bulk and internal water and sanitation services, pumpstations,
treatment works, structural design of steel and concrete elements, stormwater drainage, transport- sport- and landfill facilities.
Riaan obtained a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from the Central University of Technology (CUT) in South Africa. He is registered as a candidate
professional construction project manager with the South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) and a professional engineering technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). Riaan is also a member of the Institute of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa (IMISA) and a corporate member of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE).
Environmental Consultant
Hanri van Jaarsveld is a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Consultant at SGHS.
With 16 years of experience in the field, Hanri has a diverse background in water use license application, environmental planning, environmental impact assessments, environmental management, and compliance audits.
Hanri holds a Masters in Environmental Management, a B.SC. in Natural sciences as well as a B.Sc. Hons in Zoology. She is a member of the International Association for Impact Assessors (Reg. No. 5041).
Wetland Ecologist
Darius van Rensburg is a highly experienced wetland specialist with over 100 ecological assessments under his belt. He specializes in conducting environmental impact assessments, ecological assessments, biodiversity assessments, vegetation assessments, wetland delineation and assessment, riparian vegetation and succulent vegetation.
He is registered as a professional scientist at South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions for Ecological Science: Pr.Sci.Nat. (400284/13).

SGHS contributes to green energy projects by leveraging our expertise in water resources to support the development of solar, hydro and geothermal energy.
